Lonely Lilly Pad

1 08 2009

During my recent trip along the Marsh Boardwalk at Presqu’ile Provincial Park near Brighton, Ontario, I had a chance to not only work on my tan but work on my photography skills and eventually some photo editing as well.

There weren’t many marsh flowers within a good distance for photographing but there were plenty of lilly pads.

Normally I wouldn’t expect these to be very photographic as they just sit in the water and aren’t exactly the most beautiful but I did my best to make something that others could enjoy and I would be happy with. I think I did a pretty good job with this one.

Jumping To Victory

I attended the local High School Track and Field Championships recently and enjoyed a few hours of photographing many of the races and field events.

It wasn’t an overly warm day but it was comfortable and the sun was shining. I forgot to bring a hat and paid for that mistake later in the day when I realized my shaved head had become rather sunburned.

I had several shots from the event which I was quite happy with but decided to post this shot for you to view as I really liked how it turned out. It has good action and thanks to my improving editing skills I was able to eliminate the distracting background. I was pleased with the final result. Hope you like it as well.

Web Of Sunshine

I was going through quite the dry spell with my photography. I wasn’t feeling very motivated to grab my camera or venture out to see what I could find.

One evening I was at the trailer and decided to head down by a marsh just to see the sun set. I hadn’t taken any sunset photos for almost a year and thought maybe I could motivate myself by taking one of my favourite types of nature shots.

It was a partly cloudy night and the sky was nearly perfect for a nice shot. I noticed this patch of tall weeds and the remains of a spider web and I thought this might make for an interesting shot. I think I was right as I was happy with the end result.

Heaven’s Light

On the same day I took the Driftwood by Lake photo I also managed to take this photo as well.

With the storm clouds blocking out the sunlight, there were just a couple of openings which allowed the sun to shine through like spotlights on the earth below.

I have tried some High Dynamic Range post processing on the photo to give it some added pop and to bring out greater and more interesting detail. I was happy with the effect I achieved.
