Full Moon Reflection

3 09 2009

I have been craving trying a good honest effort to photograph a full moon with the  moonlight reflecting off the water but could never get it right.

The problem has always been exposure. The moon is always too bright to allow for the proper exposure of the light reflecting off the water. The only way to get around this problem was to combine two separate photos into one.

I photographed the moon at one exposure setting and then took a separate photograph of the moonlight on the water. I combined the two photos to create this final product.

The second photo was taken two days earlier when the moon wasn’t quite as full and with it further in the sky but the process was the same.

Look Into My Eyes

This photo strays a bit from my nature landscape photos but I liked it so much I had to add it.

I was visiting my parents at their campsite this Autumn and the local chipmunks were quite busy running around looking for anything and everything edible to store for the upcoming harsh winter months.

My father had some peanuts and one little fella was quite friendly and much braver than the others and he was coaxed to taking the food from the hand. Eventually this progressed to the point where my father would place the peanut between his lips and the little guy would climb up his legs, into his lap and eventually to dad’s chest before reaching up and latching his mouth on the peanut and taking it for himself.

I have some photos of him taking the peanut from my fathers mouth but I thought this one looked cute so I decided to add it.

If you like it, or any of my photos, please leave a comment and let me know.

Heaven’s Light

On the same day I took the Driftwood by Lake photo I also managed to take this photo as well.

With the storm clouds blocking out the sunlight, there were just a couple of openings which allowed the sun to shine through like spotlights on the earth below.

I have tried some High Dynamic Range post processing on the photo to give it some added pop and to bring out greater and more interesting detail. I was happy with the effect I achieved.
